cologne commons 2009 – a short review

June 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

cologne-commons

First of all i would like to thank the organizer for the work they put all into that project and the realization of the CC09. The Cologne Commons was a great experience and also a chance for the shared culture to express herself. It was a nice mixture of keynotes and performed creative commons music. It was also a opportunity for people how never heard before about creative commons to get a deeper look into the whole scene and sharing concept. Beside that not only the publisher also the producers of free music where informed about digital right management and viral promotion ways. A highlight for me was also the lovely designed netlabel-exhibition on unique designed charts for each netlabel.(you can find some pictures of that exhibition and more impressions at flickr) I am looking forward to the Cologne Commons part II in 2010.

Statement for Cologne Commons

June 10th, 2009 · No Comments

What you can see above is my video statement for the cologne commons conference.  It was “taped” a few weeks ago at the Kunstwerk in Cologne where also the Conference takes place.  For our dear visitors outside of Germany i say something like that: My Name is Markus from Modularfield. We publish all our releases under creative commons license. We gift our music to give not established artis the opportunity to spread there music to the audience. We do this away from any trends or results accounting. Because music is in first line… a heart thing!

Our chief officer of programming: Kay. Has finally finished  after some jQuery sessions the new artist- and release section. Its no more necessary to scroll to the bottom of each page to get a overview. Now you can comfortably move your mouse over the different artist and releases to get a full size image and click them to continue your surfing. Also we are working hard on a new compilation which should be ready within the next days. So stay tuned for some more urbanelectronicmusic from modularfield. Also i hope to see somebody of you around at the Cologne Commons – Conference // Festival at the upcoming weekend (12-13.06) in Cologne (Kunstwerk during the day conference about free music // Gebäude 9 festivall part).

After getting all the releases together now i have finally time to write something about the history of modularfield and putting together some picture galleries of past events. I started with tow articles. The first is about the history of modularfield from 2006 until now or “the way from dcc-records to mdf”. I try to summaries in a few words more than 3 years of label history. I hope that plan worked out. The second article is about the cover shoot for the latest release mdf02. So take a look into the Modularfield Diary.
